Method

  1. Combine chickpeas, potatoes, onion, tomato, cucumber and chilies in a bowl.

  2. Add chutney, chaat masala, cumin and lemon juice. Toss well.

  3. Taste and adjust salt and sourness. Top with coriander and serve within an hour.

Cooking tips

  • Chaat masala is salty; add it before any extra salt.

Substitutions

  • Tamarind chutney → 1 tbsp lemon juice + 1 tsp sugar

Serve with

Top with crushed papri or samosa for crunch.

Storage

Keep the undressed parts in the fridge up to 2 days; dress just before serving.

Reheating

Serve cold or at room temperature.
